Design work will begin soon on the new Vickie Powers Memorial
Park which is located approximately one mile north of Lowe's on
Haines Avenue, then west on Kathryn Avenue. The Parks Division
erected a sign at the park showing the proposed design and a
consultant has been hired for the project. Construction will
begin later this fall and Phase 1 of the park should be complete
in 2009.
The Department of Parks and Recreation would like to thank the
Qwest Foundation for their generous donation of $50,000 which
will be used for construction of the playground component in
this park. It is sincerely appreciated. The City also received a
SD Land and Water Conservation Grant in the amount of $50,000 to
assist with construction of the playground.
